Here is a recipe for stir fry sauce that goes with the vegetable stir fry dish easy to prepare and simple to follow.  We have created this sauce from scratch but you could really buy a jar of honey garlic sauce and use as much as you can.  We just used a who9le bunch of vegetables that we had in the fridge that needed to get used, so your veggies can vary with what you have on hand.

We have chosen a vegetable stir fry to so it will be easy for you to follow the step by step procedure we have below.  This recipe can be prepared in forty minutes, cooked in 25 minutes and can yield around five servings.  Let us start cooking then.

THE HONEY GARLIC SAUCE ON VEGETABLE STIR FRIES:

THE INGREDIENTS:

THE VEGGIES THAT WE HAD:
  • One half large red onion, sliced in dice pieces
  • Two large carrots, chopped into thin slices
  • One and one half stalks of broccoli, without the stalks, florets cut into halves
  • One yellow bell pepper
  • One half green pepper
  • One red bell pepper
  • Two stalks of celery
  • Two cloves of garlic
  • THE magical SAUCE:
  • Three fourth cup brown sugar, packed
  • Two tablespoons of cornstarch
  • Three fourth cup water
  • Three tablespoons of soy sauce
  • One tablespoon of honey
  • Two cloves of garlic, chopped (alternative of two tablespoons of garlic powder)
THE PROCEDURE:


  • Start by cooking your carbohydrates, steam brown rice and let it sit and wait till serving time.
  • Chop the vegetables according to your preferred cuts, into bit5e size pieces. (Be it triangular, rectangular or strips, it doesn’t matter anyway)
  • Heat your cooking pan or wok over medium high heat on your American stove.  Spray it with cooking spray, and then add the onions, carrots, and the garlic.  Cook them for about five to ten minutes till the carrots are semi-soft tender but still crisp.
  • Then add the rest of the veggies, start with the broccoli florets followed by the rest, and cook for another ten to twenty minutes.  Sprinkle two tablespoons of water to soften your veggies and reduce the heat to simmer with a cover.
  • In another saucepan, combine the brown sugar, the cornstarch, and add the water, the soy sauce and the honey and the garlic.  Stir and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to simmer for two minutes.  Make sure that the cornstarch is totally dissolved while you continue stirring the sauce.  
  • Add the sauce to the wok of vegetables and toss and stir the ingredients to coat with the sauce.  Stir carefully and wait till the sauce thickens and remove from heat.
  • Transfer the dish to a platter and serve immediately while it is hot.  This vegetable stir fry dish is very good to pair with brown rice.

  • Reduce the heat to low and stir in the miso, the sesame oil and the agave nectar.  Stir until the miso dissolves into the sauce.  Transfer to a bowl reserve for serving.
  • To begin stir frying, heat the canola oil in a large skillet over high heat on your stove again.  Add the shrimps and cook without stirring until the shrimps are just cooked for about one minute per side.  Remove from the pan to sit on a plate.
  • Add the zucchini half moon cuts to the wok and cook until tender for about three minutes.
  • Combine the shrimps and zucchini on a serving dish and drizzle it with two thirds of the sauce over its top.  Save the rest of the sauce for rice toppings.

STIR FRIED CHICKEN WITH GINGER:  Serves four persons. Cooking time is fifteen minutes.

THE INGREDIENTS:
  • four chicken breasts, thinly sliced into strips, deboned and skinless please
  • two tablespoons of olive oil or any vegetable oil
  • one red onion, thinly sliced
  • one clove of garlic, crushed
  • four hundred grams of fresh mixed vegetables, thinly sliced into strips (peppers, mange tout, celery, and mushrooms)
  • four cm or a thumb size ginger, shredded
  • two tablespoons of soy sauce
  • a few drops of sesame oil, if it is available in your kitchen
  • salt and freshly grounded black pepper  (according to taste)

  • Start by preparing all the ingredients you have on your list.  Please prepare them according to the instructions in the list of ingredients.  The mixed veggies are to be sliced into bite sizes.  The chicken into thinly sliced strips.  And place them close to your stove for easy reach when you start to stir fry.  Measure your condiments well and place them along the side of your stove too.

BEEF AND VEGETABLE STIR FRY:  This recipe serves four persons and can be prepared in fifteen minutes and cooked in ten minutes.

THE INGREDIENTS:
  • one cup of low sodium fat-free beef broth, can be bought in supermarkets
  • one fourth cup of teriyaki sauce
  • one fourth cup of rice vinegar
  • two tablespoons of sugar
  • one teaspoon of Asian dark sesame oil
  • one teaspoon of Chinese five-spice powder or one half teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • four teaspoons of vegetable oil
  • four teaspoons of cornstarch or corn flour

  • In a medium size mixing bowl, whisk or pour in the beef broth, the teriyaki sauce, the rice vinegar, the sugar and the sesame oil.  Stir carefully to combine until they are smooth.  Then add the Chinese five-spice powder and the cornstarch.  Continue to stir until the cornstarch is fully dissolved leaving no clumps in the sauce.  Set aside for frying.
  • In a large skillet or wok, heat one tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium high heat on your American stove. 
  • Once the oil is hot and starts to smoke, add the flank steak strips and cook for about three minutes stirring occasionally, until they have turned brown. Three minutes means the steak is medium rare.  Remove the steak from the pan to a plate and set aside.  Drain any fat left in the pan and reheat the pan.  Do not wash the pan.
  • Reheat the pan to medium high heat and add the broccoli florets with the one half cup of water.  Cover your pan and let it boil for five minutes until the broccoli is tender. 
  • Remove the cover and continue cooking until the water has evaporated. 
  • Add the remaining teaspoon of vegetable oil to the pan and the bell peppers or sweet peppers and the red onions.
  • Cook stirring occasionally for about four minutes until the vegetables are crisp tender.  Then add the carrots and cook for another one minute.
  • Return the beef to the pan and combine the vegetables with the beef by tossing and stirring for another thirty seconds.
  • Then add the sauce to the dish and stir to combine for two minutes more until the sauce thickens.

  • Let us assume that you have all the utensils necessary for the cooking, such as the wok and two mixing bowls.
  • Begin with mix in a bowl the following ingredients: the soy sauce, the white wine, the sugar, the sesame oil and the white pepper.  Set aside for frying.

  • Return the tofu to the wok along with the leafy part of the bok choy and stir fry for an additional two minutes.
  • Push the vegetables to the sides of the wok and create a well at the bottom of the wok.  Add another teaspoon of peanut oil and place the garlic and ginger in the bottom of the wok to stir for about fifteen seconds.  Then add the soy sauce mixture that you had prepared and stir.  Bring to a boil and reduce the heat again to medium and cook for about a minute.
  • Finally add the cornstarch solution to the wok.  Stir until the sauce boils and thickens.  When thick, combine the vegetables and tofu with the sauce and stir for another minute.
  • Serve hot and enjoy this vegetarian stir fry at home.  Easy and simple, it can be a very nutritious meal for everyone.
